What is an Activist? I was given this definition by an acquaintance recently, and I thought it was quite apt. “An Activist is determined by the necessity to affect social change that is motivated by the need to protect human rights and the environment.” That makes sense, and yet sometimes Activists get caught up in what words like “rights” and “good” and “being humane” mean, and what the bigger picture is all about. Now then, I am not a Natural Activist; I would call myself an Environmentalist, because I care about nature, and I think it is important that we preserve it for our children and their children. I believe that if we are going to use violence, we need to use it in ways that are principled and not so unjustifiable as to cause mass casualties and needless suffering.
